CRADOCK, H. C. (1863-1941)


H. C. CRADOCK [Mrs Henry Cowper Cradock, née Augusta Whiteford] est née en 1863. Elle meurt le 15 octobre 1941 à Dorking (Surrey, Angleterre), à l'âge de 78 ans. Fille d'un pasteur anglican, Mrs H. C. Cradock fut institutrice pour jeunes enfants. En 1893, elle se maria à Henry Cowper Cradock dont elle prit le patromyme et les initiales comme nom de plume. Elle fut l'une des plus populaires auteures de littérature enfantine de l'entre-deux guerres au Royaume-Uni. Plusieurs ouvrages de la série Josephine furent traduits en français [Josette dans la traduction française] et édités par Fernand Nathan. Des ouvrages de la série Teddy Bear furent traduits en hollandais.
